How to remove multiple extra spaces between words in Word

They were at the top of the list in past versions of Word, so this must be a deliberate decision. Word 2019, 2016, 2013, Word 2010 and before In earlier versions of Word the look is a little different but the result is the same. The blue squiggly line marks an incorrect sentence spacing. In this tutorial, I show you how to adjust line and paragraph spacing and settings in your Word 2016 document. I also cover how to change the spacing before.

Remove extra spaces between words with Find and Replace function

If you want to apply Find and Replace function to remove extra spaces, you can do it by follows:

1. Please press Ctrl + H to display the Find and Replace dialog.

2. Press More button to show more options. Check the Use wildcards box under Search Options section, then type ( ){2,} in Find what field, and 1 in Replace with field. See screenshot:

3. After finish the settings, click Replace All to remove all extra spaces between words from the whole document.

    Not a fancy way but works as well, just type a double space in find and type a single space in replace. Repeat the same until all multiple spaces are removed.

    For those who get the error message, a simple solution is where this tutorial tells you to put '(){2}', simply push the space bar twice. In the place for 'replace with', just put in a single spacebar. Now push, 'Replace all'.

      You have to first highlight the section of your word document you want to remove the double spacing before proceeding with the above procedure.
